The value of a weekly Sunday prep allows you to not have to worry about food preparation for the week. It helps with saving money too as you don’t have the excuse that you haven’t thought about it. Making a Sunday ritual can be in many forms. I tend to spend the late afternoon on Sunday and take 90 minutes to run through a series of tasks that helps me get my food in order for the week. Even if you don’t do everything, start by doing something and get in the habit of setting your week up for success.

Give your self time to plan and prep meals before your busy work week.

Planning your meals can be frustrating when you don’t know what you have or if you don’t know what to cook. That’s ok! The process here is to experiment and find out what works for you. But no matter what you do, you’ll have to at least think ahead and write down a basic menu for your meal for the week. This is always my first step. Once I make my menu, I check to see what I need and what I have to use up. I make my menu on Friday after I find out what I liked and didn’t from the week before. Then on Saturday, I find out what I need from the store and what I have. Sunday morning is my shopping time and everything is fresh for the week!

Consistent weekly grocery visits will only improve your results.

After I make my list, Its off to the store. When you first start Sunday prepping, you’re going to realize that you don’t have a lot of stuff you need. So just be warned, that first trip might be expensive. A good tip might be for your first week, try to only map out your lunches and snacks through out the week. This takes the stress out of 15 meals and snacks and makes it more manageable. Then once you hit your groove, you can start adding dinners and breakfasts. This is the next step of taking control.

Local organic greens fruits and vegetables along with quality grassfed/organic meats. healthy sources of fats (nut butters, coconut t oil, chia seeds, flax seeds, nuts) are all great staples to implement into your meals.

This goes without saying but is never said enough. Buying healthy makes you healthy. The quality of our food is so important to our overall health. The amount of unknown effects that over processed foods have on our nervous systems and blood sugar is scary and the known effects are even scarier. When you choose to Sunday Prep, you are taking control of your body’s intake. This is the next step of taking control.
