More now than ever, kids and teens are in need of doing more physical activity to stay away from technology.
With the world living on convenience food stops during sports and activities, it definitely plays a major role in how our kids feel. Keeping our children active and engaged in sports and activities are all positive but it’s the way we do it. Some questions you can ask yourself as a parent: How much sleep is my child getting. With our busy schedules its important to place sleep on a high priority list. Here are some ways to enforce good sleep habits in your home. Set tasks and and chores for each family member to accomplish. Set a time in which these chores should be completed. Setting timers on your phone to remind kids to take showers, brush their teeth and be ready for bed is a great way to keep schedules consistent. Less television or simply hiding the remotes in your house is a great way to still make time for that bedtime story with your kids. Think about it! People on average spend 5 hours or more on their phone. Simply scrolling on social media can take up hours of your time and cost your family time as well. An average of 8- 8.5 hours of sleep in most beneficial and recommended for adults and children should be getting up to 12 -13 hours of sleep. So there, consistency can truly help with sleep patterns, and less stress. Lack of sleep increases cortisol and stress. Which path would you choose?
How many artificial ingredients is my child consuming?
Is my child staying hydrated with water or sugar electrolyte drinks? Have you monitored your child’s behavior after eating fast food all week? Are you taking the steps to teach your child that its’ ok to have the birthday cake and food at a party but help them become aware of eating quality foods at home? When my kids ask begin to roll their eyes when I won’t buy certain cookies and cakes due to several ingredients, I try not to make an issue out of it, but educate them on the good cow vs. the bad cow and how fewer ingredients and less dyes are a better choice. We don’t keep soda or juice in house and explain why certain juices leaves stains on their cute mouths.
